THE PROPERTY.
The property is a semi detached red bricked property.
CLIENT ISSUE.
We were called to the property by the client because of a suspected leak under their floor.
Initially we carried out an acoustic test that confirmed there was indeed a leak on the cold water mains coming into the house. A moisture survey confirmed it was likely in the kitchen.
Discoveries
An acoustic survey confirmed that the leak was under concrete floor under the kitchen sink unit.
Access was made under the unit and the concrete subfloor was excavated to reveal a malfunctioned fitting on the incoming mains, as in the pictures below.
First picture is under the unit, second picture is the leaking pipe and third picture is the fitting that malfunctioned.
Conclusion
An acoustic and moisture survey confirmed that the leak was from a malfunctioned fitting on the incoming mains under the floor under the kitchen sink units.
