THE PROPERTY.
The house is a bungalow, which has been extended with a cement render to the exterior.
COMMENTS.
Initial observation when walking into the property was the smell and damp in the air.
Walking through into the bathroom at the rear of the house there were signs of damp on the floor and up the walls as in the picture.
An acoustic survey was carried out in this bathroom and there were no signs of any leaks in the pipework in this bathroom
The survey was then taken into the kitchen which is at the doorway of this bathroom and has serviced appliances adjacent. The appliances, a washing machine and American style fridge were removed to inspect the pipework behind. On the mains feed to the fridge, there was a 15mm compression straight which was leaking down into the subfloor as in the picture.
I repaired the leak and carried on with the survey.
An acoustic survey was then carried out throughout the house with no signs of any leaks.
CONCLUSION.
A Visual and an acoustic survey has concluded that a defective 15 mm compression fitting behind the fridge was continuously leaking down under the subfloor in the kitchen at the rear of the house.
